YNDI • Wim Hof Method Fundamentals Workshop with Mike Gass

Sunday, March 12th, 9 - 1

Be ready for a profound and therapeutic experience delving into the revolutionary Wim Hof Method theory, breathing techniques, an ice bath, followed by hot tea and an YNDI atmospheric immersion to rest and reflect.

Put yourself in the expert hands of the certified WHM Instructor, Mike Gass, to learn the 3 pillars of the Wim Hof Method: Breathing Technique, Cold Exposure & Commitment. Find out how you can utilize oxygen and cold exposure to optimize body & mind, and learn about the underlying physiology.

The intimate quality of this Wim Hof workshop allows for ample personal attention, and feedback tailored to your specific situation. Whether you are looking to improve mental or physical performance, relieve symptoms related to an illness, or are just curious to find out what the Wim Hof Method is all about— a WHM workshop offers something for everyone.

The program will kick off with an introduction to the Wim Hof Method, and include a breathing session, optional light stretching, and an ice bath. Following the ice bath, you are welcome to rest in the warm studio immersed in atmospheric lighting and an Icelandic sound bath. Hot tea will also be offered to those who are interested. Feel free to bring a journal as this will be an ideal time after this experience for reflection. Mike will be available to answer any questions.

If you have no prior experience with cold exposure, we recommend you finish your showers cold in the days leading up to the workshop. This may be overwhelming at first, but just try to relax, focus on your breath, and bring it into a controlled, steady rhythm.

What to bring:

towel

yoga mat

Additional tips:

For the best experience, go in with an open mind and without expectations.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is suitable for everyone, but does require a basic level of health. Out of precaution, we advise against participation during pregnancy, or if you are epileptic. People with cardiovascular issues, or any other serious health conditions should always consult a medical professional before starting the Wim Hof Method.

Mike’s story:

I am a lifelong athlete dedicated to wellness, sport, physical and mental health. My curiosity for improvement in these pursuits led me to the Wim Hof Method. The timing of diving into this practice turned out to be very fortunate as it would contribute to such significant healing that I credit it with saving my life and livelihood. In addition to trying to spend as much time on bikes and boards as possible, I am also a husband and father to three children, one of whom has special needs. Our home environment, while beautiful and full of love, is also extremely chaotic and stressful. It is not uncommon for long term exposure to stress to manifest into physical symptoms. When this began to happen to me it came as a complete surprise and shock as I had always been fit and active and enjoyed good health. The symptoms which included blurred vision and a numbness to the left side of my body left me unable to train or participate in many of my favorite activities. The symptoms also compromised my ability to be present for the family and to perform all the functions necessary to manage the household and my job. Eventually, after multiple doctor’s visits I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. This was an utter shock and left me feeling angry, scared, and depressed. Faced with a choice between daily steroid injections or trying to heal through diet and lifestyle changes, I chose the latter. Fortunately, I had already begun practicing the Wim Hof Method to improve my ability to surf in the frigid waters of New England in the winter. Little did I realize that my daily dedication to the WHM combined with those other lifestyle changes, would completely alleviate my symptoms of MS. Inspired by these remarkable results I decided I must work to earn the instructor certification so that I could share this powerful tool with others. Now that I have become a certified instructor, I can fulfill this promise to share my experience and to try to help people to find their own inner strength. The daily stresses of modern-day living are real and can be quite harmful to the mind and body if not properly addressed. The Wim Hof Method is a powerful tool which can make us happier, healthier, and stronger both physically and mentally. Come to one of my workshops to learn more about what the Wim Hof Method has to offer.
