Clear modifications are demonstrated in the Intro to YNDI Fusion yoga class to safely ease your way into this practice, so it's excellent for beginners and new practitioners. It makes the class accessible for those who have a tight back or hamstrings or are looking for a practice that is slow and healing yet still transformative. Rooted in the Barkan Method, fusing together different disciplines of yoga, including therapeutic Hot Yoga from the Ghosh lineage and postures from other disciplines of Hatha Yoga, this practice will make you feel full of vitality.
The yoga class begins with a breathing exercise in a Nordic barn, Standing Breathing (Dandayamana Pranayama), to help turn the chatter of the mind off and connect the breath with the body. We then travel to a tranquil candlelit setting for the warm up flow with modifications. This helps prepare the body and mind for the balancing sequence by the serene pool. For the floor series, travel to the butterfly field for therapeutic and healing postures for the knees, back and hips. Modifications are explained, so you can have a block and/or folded blanket handy if you have it. Soak in the blissful final relaxation and peaceful space you've created.
